Friends of the Library offer free books - Plumas County Newspapers

The Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library announced that their book sale, held Oct. 8 and 9, was an overwhelming success.

In only two days, over $1,800 was taken in. These funds came from the sale of books, from the purchase of new and renewed memberships, from donations, and from generous bids on the special silent auction items.

As a way of saying “thank you” for the generous support of their book sale, the Quincy Friends are offering a vast array of books and other items to the community for FREE!

You can stop by the Quincy library at any time and explore the huge selection of books on the porch. They’re yours to take, to read, to treasure, or to give as gifts to those you love.  But don’t wait. These free offerings often disappear fast.

The Friends want to stress that because their opportunities for book sales are more limited than usual, they can’t accept further donations of books. They can’t at this time make exceptions to this, so please don’t leave your unwanted books on the library porch. Doing so creates a huge burden on library volunteers and staff.

As always, funds raised by the Friends of the Library will go toward expanding the services of your library. They’ve funded book and multimedia purchases, computer purchases and electronic support, physical plant upgrades, and staffing for the library to remain open on Saturdays. Additionally, the Quincy Friends will be seeking ways to support the community of Greenville as it works toward restoring its library services.

The Friends want to thank everyone who supported their book sale. If you’d like more information about their activities, you can email them at [email protected]  or visit them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/quincyfriendslibrary/
