Manistee County restaurant offering free Christmas dinner - Manistee News Advocate

ONEKAMA — John and Michelle Blackman, owners of M-22 Grill in Onekama, are continuing a tradition that started four years ago: giving away Christmas dinners for free.

M-22 Grill is planning to give back to the community again by providing a free Christmas dinner to anyone who visits the restaurant between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 25.

“We began this tradition in 2017 and it went over very well. Unfortunately, we had to take 2020 off because of the pandemic,” said a news release from M-22 Grill. “We want to stress that everyone is welcome and that this event is for anyone who needs a meal, doesn’t want to dine alone on Christmas day, or simply would rather have us do the cooking,” the release said.

A complete homemade ham dinner with potatoes, vegetable, salad, rolls and dessert are planned to be served for the first 100 patrons on a first come, first served basis. Reservations and takeout are not available for the Christmas dinner meal and the regular menu will not be served on Dec. 25.

All tips and donations that come in will be directed to the St. Joseph Community Food Pantry.

“The local food pantry is a great cause and they are always looking for donations," John Blackman said in the release. “The free Christmas dinner is about saying thanks to the community that has been so good to us over these past eight years.”

M-22 Grill is located at 5159 Main St. in Onekama. For more information about the free Christmas dinner, call 231-889-7133.
