The 2022 NFL offseason has already featured several blockbuster moves, from the Broncos reportedly landing Russell Wilson to the Chargers adding Khalil Mack to the Colts dealing Carson Wentz. On Monday, however, things might escalate even more. That's when the league's legal tampering period officially begins, paving the way for free agents to negotiate with other teams. Signings and trades can't become official until Wednesday, the actual start of the league year, but the activity will kick into high gear.
With that in mind, here's a look at some of the latest rumors ahead of the legal tampering period:
Patriots, Raiders interested in D.J. Chark
The Jaguars wide receiver has at least two notable suitors in the AFC, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Despite an injury-riddled 2021, Chark could net something like $12.5 million per year as one of the top play-making targets set to hit the market. New England just tendered restricted free agent wideout Jakobi Meyers but could use more speed for young quarterback Mac Jones. Las Vegas, meanwhile, has been seeking big-play help since losing Henry Ruggs III in 2021.
Colts considering Marcus Mariota at QB
Indianapolis has a gaping hole under center after agreeing to deal Wentz to the Commanders, and Mariota is one of their most buzzed-about replacement options amid league circles, per ESPN's Dan Graziano. The veteran Raiders reserve spent the first five years of his career in the Colts' division with the Titans. It's unclear, however, if Indy views Mariota as more of a bridge/stopgap at QB rather than a surefire Opening Day fill-in. He hasn't been a full-time starter since early in 2019.

Broncos could target Chandler Jones, Von Miller
The Broncos' top need after acquiring QB Russell Wilson is pass rusher, and they know it, according to NFL Media's James Palmer, who reports Jones is one of the biggest names on Denver's radar. The Cardinals veteran could command over $15M per year as a short-term option. The Broncos also "haven't closed the door" on a reunion with Miller, who is looking to cash in after a half-season with the Rams and recently hinted at a return to Denver.
Chargers eyeing J.C. Jackson
Even after dealing for star edge rusher Khalil Mack, Los Angeles might not be done adding to its defense, with NFL Media's Mike Giardi reporting the Chargers are expected to be "heavily involved" in pursuit of Jackson, the Patriots' turnover magnet at cornerback. Jackson is widely considered the top veteran at his position in free agency, and could net close to $20M per year.
