The 2022 NFL offseason has been one of the wildest and busiest in league history. We’ve seen unprecedented trades, unbelievable contracts and we are still several weeks away from the 2022 NFL draft.

The Washington Commanders got in on the action; trading draft picks to the Indianapolis Colts for quarterback Carson Wentz. Many around the NFL have criticized the trade due to Wentz’s issues with his last two teams, but the Commanders needed a quarterback, and Russell Wilson wasn’t coming to Washington.

Washington has been chiefly quiet in free agency outside of the Wentz trade. The Commanders have lost Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff and defensive tackle Tim Settle to free agency. Washington also released defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis and guard Ereck Flowers. Tight end Ricky Seals-Jones also signed with the New York Giants.

The Commanders have retained several free agents, notably running back J.D. McKissic, offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas, wide receiver Cam Sims and defensive back Bobby McCain.

The only outside free agents Washington has signed are guard Andrew Norwell and reserve defensive end Efe Obada. Norwell will start at left guard, while Obada will play a key role behind Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

Washington will sign more free agents before the draft and up until training camp in July. Will the Commanders keep any of their remaining unrestricted free agents? Wide receiver/kick returner DeAndre Carter is one Washington would like to retain, but he remains a free agent.
