The Seahawks signed 14 rookie free agents who were not selected in last week's NFL Draft, a list that covers several positions the Seahawks did not address with their nine picks, including quarterback.
Additionally, the Seahawks signed four of their nine draft picks: fifth-round picks Tyreke Smith and Tariq Woolen and seventh-round picks Bo Melton and Dareke Young.
After not selecting a quarterback in the draft, the Seahawks signed Louisiana-Lafayette standout Levi Lewis, who had a 35-7 record as the starting quarterback of the Ragin' Cajuns, and who threw a school-record 74 touchdown passes in his college career against just 18 interceptions.
The Seahawks added four safeties after not selecting any last week, signing Virginia's Joey Blount, Miami's Bubba Bolden, Nebraska's Deontai Williams and Wisconsin's Scott Nelson. Seattle also addressed tight end (Texas' Cade Brewer and Florida Atlantic's John Mitchell), off-ball linebacker (NC State's Levi Jones) and the interior offensive and defensive lines (Georgia State guard Shamarious Gilmore and West Florida defensive tackle Matt Gotel) after not drafting players at those positions.
The Seahawks also continued to add to their edge-rushing group, signing linebacker Josh Onujiogu, who had 13.5 sacks in 11 games last season for Division III Framingham State, as well as at receiver (Auburn's Demetris Robertson and Houston's Jake Herslow), and cornerback (Florida International's Josh Valentine-Turner).
