CTDOT Providing Free National Traffic Incident Management Responder Trainings

All trainings will be held at the CTDOT Headquarters in Newington, Conn.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) today announced upcoming free National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Trainings in Newington, Conn. The trainings are open to any incident responder and are focused on responder safety, safe and quick clearance of an incident, and prompt, reliable communications. More than 500 incident responders have been trained by CTDOT in 2022. The next session will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“Crashes and roadway incidents are on the rise. The longer responders stay on the scene, the greater risk they and other motorists face. It’s important that all responders have the latest training so they can perform safe and quick clearance of traffic incidents,” Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Joe Giulietti said. “This training provides the information and resources to ensure incident responders stay safe, secondary crashes are reduced, and traffic delays are decreased. I encourage all responders to register for an upcoming free training.”

The training is open to all incident responders, including those who work in communications, emergency management, emergency medical services (EMS), fire/rescue, law enforcement, towing and recovery, and transportation/public works.

The CTDOT TIM Training has been endorsed by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), American Public Works Association (APWA), Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association (CVVFA), Division of State Associations of Chiefs of Police (SACOP), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Intelligent Transportation Society (ITS) of America, International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST), International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA), National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO), National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA), National Sheriffs' Association (NSA), National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA), and Transportation Research Board (TRB).
