The 105th birthday of the National Park Service system is coming Aug. 25, and with it, another free day of access to Washington state lands and state parks.
Washington State Parks, Washington Department of Natural Resources, and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will offer free entrance to state lands on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Visitors will not need a Discover Pass to park.
Officials with Washington state lands agencies are encouraging visitors to enjoy the free day but beware of wildfire risks.
Statewide burn bans are currently in effect during this unprecedented fire year, and visitors can’t have open fires or charcoal grills. Propane stoves and generators, however, are allowed.
Many state-managed recreation areas are currently closed for fire danger or active wildfire.
